01 June 2008

Popular Alliance members will be joining the FACT (Fradley Against Curborough Town) protest march through Lichfield City Centre on Saturday 7th March at 12.00 from Gresley Row, off Greenhill, behind the Bald Buck pub.

May / June Developments
24 May 2008

We would have loved to have a candidate standing in the Crewe / Nantwich bi-election, however our only local members are by their own words, supporters, rather than potential candidates.

As it was, UKIP gained just under 1,000 votes at a time when the main aim seemed to be to defeat Labour at all costs. The UKIP front liner Mr Nattrass seemed to be the only one standing against the mass influx of Polish workers into Crewe and the area, indeed the town has one of the UK's highest Eastern European populations, percentage-wise. Now we are of course not against people working hard to better their way of life and most Polish in the UK do work very hard, but again it highlights the number of UK citizens who we pay to sit on their backsides and do nothing - this is a very poor economic plan. Unfortunately, the Kick Labour's Ass media drive overlooked this point completely. Meanwhile the Tory, Mr Timpson simply won by existing and keeping his mouth shut.
AGRICULTURE & FISHERIES POLICY DEVELOPMENT
Popular Alliance is very concerned about many of the reasons behind the rise in food prices and our nation's poor position to support ourselves in this crisis. The rise in prosperity of people in China and India has given us competition for many foods items produced in those countries that we have freely imported for many years, but now we have to buy in a competitive market.
At the same time our own farmers are taxed and legislated out of business, whilst much of that revenue goes to support new business opportunities in less prosperous parts of the European Union - bleeding us dry as we make our competitors stronger - Yes folks, Communism is what the EU are peddling !!
Our new Agriculture and Fisheries Policy is being written to tackle this mess and put our own needs first again. The old bible saying of "The Lord Helps Those Who Help Themselves" is not exactly being kept to these days, its more like "The EU Bleeds Us Dry To Help Themselves."
We welcome all input as we formulate this most important of policies, please email your ideas to C.Chapman@popularalliance.org

New Members & Posts
22 April 2008

We are pleased to annouce Don Clark has taken over the role of Party Secretary and Nominating Officer.

Councillor Iain Sheldon has joined the National Council and has also become Chairman for Popular Alliance Wales.

We now offer Associated membership for those not ready to commit to full membership of our political party - more details on the Membership Pages.

More good, common sense policies are coming through. Our Farming & Fisheries Policy will be added this week and Don has brought forward some excellent Taxation and Welfare additions.

It was good to hear Mr Cameron quoting from our words again recently (though as usual, not naming the source of this common sense) and we welcome floundering members of all political parties to read our policies thoroughly to see where they are going wrong.
